Collecting player shirts often throws up the odd anomoly. This I got from the best source ever, yet when I got it I noticed there was no Nationwide sleeve patches, which were used throughout that season. A replica I initially thought, but when it was confirmed by the source that it was 100% genuine and without question, I did some digging. Matt, along with a couple of players, used replica shirts without Mationwide patches near the end of the season. Paul Dickov and Tommy Wright were other players who played without the patches. Took me hours to trawl through programmes and records, but the evidence is there. Leicester City were in administration this particular season, so shirts and patches would have been used sparingly. Many photos show the team wearing shirts, with just bits of the patches showing. It looks like though Matt was issued with one without patches whatsoever, as the programme one week shows shirts with patches, the week after no patches atall.
This is a big shirt in many ways. It is bloody huge in size, but more importantly Matt would have worn this on the run in to being promoted back to the Premier League.
